Status of Communist
Countries
Of the Utopian dreams, the dream of converting the world into a
socialistic society with the economic development based on communism by
the dictatorship regimes has become a big farce as soon as the Soviet
Union collapsed. Even then some nations are still ruled by communist
dictators only upon military might. Now the focus of the world is on two
communist countries such as China and North Korea as China has become a
defunct Socialist State after the Soviet Union split into many liberated
nations like Yugoslavia became later in Europe.
China
Only after more than half a century, Russia came to realize the
betrayal, the true lies of the communist manifesto and changed over
itself to a new politico-administrative system of governance and
democratized its State. But China, which has a biggest population in
the world, is unable to make immediate change because it may lose
control over its people. However, without economic development, all
kinds of other developments cannot be achieved by any nation in the
world. So, experimentations based on reforms, liberalization and
globalization are very essential for all nations in the 21st
century.
Perhaps realizing this truth, at last China has normalized and is
normalizing its relationships with the neighbors and outside world.
Therefore, it looks that China, which wanted to become an Asian
giant by nuclear or military means, wants to become an economic
leader by opposing international terrorism accepting world peace
because it is necessary for its developments and coming forward for
participating in the world trade market and cooperating with the
international community for its economic development, after making
necessary internal reforms for the governance of its State.
North Korea
On observation it looks that the only nation that dogmatically
sticking to communist manifesto with sophisticated weapons is North
Korea. Even though communism has failed and nuclear proliferation is
against world peace and its existence, North Korea still believes to
keep itself strong in the conventional stand of strategy in South
Asia, which is standing as a great impediment in its normalization
process towards other nations. That is why unification of North and
South Koreas still remains to be a dream. Recently North Korea has
sent out the international monitoring agents of its nuclear energy
enriching plant there. America reacted that sanctions should be
imposed on North Korea For that North Korea has withdrawn its
Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty signed by it earlier. Then it has
said that if a sanction is imposed on North Korea, it is a
declaration of war on it by USA. So, America is trying to pacify it
and diplomatically taking efforts to resolve North Korean problem in
a peaceful way.
Status of Terrorist Nations
Maintaining national defense is the sovereign right of each country.
But unnecessary building up of defense potentiality is a threat to
the neighbors. Above all, building up military potentialities
combined with terrorism is a potential danger to the whole world.
The nations that are prominent in this regard today are Pakistan,
Afghanistan, Iran, Palestine, Libya, Sudan and Yemen of which some
need to be critically analyzed. Neither economic nor socialistic but
only religiously dogmatic, the terrorists don’t care for capitalists
and communists. But both the communists and the terrorists betray
even their friends for the sake of their respective rigid
dogmatisms. However, by a rare coincidence today both the
capitalists and the communists are against international terrorism
and even jointly want to fight against it to the last.
Afghanistan
Religious militants don’t care for friendship, humanity, culture and
civilization but their dogmatism only and in that way they torture
and control their won people by imposing some taboos to be followed
by them. Such a thing world has witnessed in Afghanistan. Religious
bigots are neither faithful to nor fail to betray those who have
helped them. After having helped such religious dogmatists, Super
Powers are paying heavy prices to put an end to terrorist menaces in
the world today. Afghanistan is one such instance in the world
history today.
In the cold war period, after the Vietnam War, the show of strength
between the Super Powers took place only in Afghanistan. In the
balance of power game, to have strategic access to the Southern
Seas, Russia took hold of Afghanistan for about eight years. To win
in the cold war America did all possible things by equipping the
Afghan rebels with sophisticated weapons through Pakistan. So, the
extremist rebels easily grew from strength to strength to a
formidable level. But due to perestroika [reform or restructuring]
had to be really made in a glasnost [transparent] manner, Russia
sincerely came forward to put an end to cold war and as a result it
withdrew its troops and left Afghanistan once and for all.
So, within a decade or so the all in all extremist rebels, the
terrorist Talibans invaded the whole of Afghanistan from the South.
Besides, Osama bin Laden, the leader of the Al Qaeda Terrorist
Organization, after his extradition from Saudi Arabia, stayed in
Yemen for sometime and then permanently took asylum in Afghanistan
fully supporting the Talibans. Osama’s religious and financial
support was a great shot in the arm for the Talibans. In that way
Afghanistan became the Centre of International Terrorism in the
world. First the terrorists attacked the American embassies in
Africa and then destroyed the World Trade Center twin towers in New
York, a biggest economic blow to USA on 11th September 2001. So,
under the unanimous approval of UNO USA, UK, France and Italy waged
war against Talibans to the last and established a new government in
Afghanistan under their supervision in 2002. Now normalization of
civilian rule is going on there.
Iraq
The desire for land aggression led to the defeat of Iraq in the 1991
Gulf War. Sometime or other, the wounded tiger takes revenge on the
wounder. However strong or weak the opponent may be, it never fails
to attack it, whenever chances come. It was true in the case of
Iraq. Having a modernized army with sophisticated weapons, Iraq was
a real terror and threat to the peace of that region as well as the
world. So, how to solve or in what way to settle the case of Iraq
was a vital problem to the international community then. It seemed,
if the Iraq problem was resolved peacefully or politically, another
world war could be avoided for the good of the world.
After throwing away the Shaw of modernized Iran, the Islamic
fundamentalist leader Ayatollah Khomeini took throne and ruled the
people with old religious principles. War broke out between Iran and
Iraq on the sharing of river water lasting for about eight years. In
that cold war time Iran was supported by the Eastern Super Power and
Iraq was supported by the Western Super Power with the supply of
latest and sophisticated weapons. Having modernized its army, to
have a few more share of Oil Well, Iraq ventured upon invading
Kuwait. But Iraqi soldiers were thorn out from Kuwait by the
multinational force under the leadership of USA in accordance with
the UN resolution in the 1991 Gulf War.
In spite of international economic sanction on Iraq and even after a
decade or so the confrontationist attitude of Iraq towards the West,
that too especially towards USA, had not changed. Even then it was
openly defying America and Israel. Even after the Gulf War,
President Saddam Hussein of Iraq did not step down from power. He
simply stepped up the production of weapons. In 2002 he conducted
referendum, in which 100% votes polled by the people of Iraq favored
Saddam Hussein’s stay in power. That verdict was against the wishes
of the erstwhile Iraqi Generals and opposition party members in
exile, who might be installed in the new government after Saddam
Hussein was ousted from power in Iraq with the full support of US
government.
So, USA was vigorously working towards the change of government in
Iraq and disarmament of weapons of mass destruction there through UN
and their coalition partners under UN resolution 1441. But Saddam
Hussein was defying the US government and was preparing his army
ready for a war, though he had allowed international atomic energy
agency inspectors to check for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.
Discussions were going on in the UN Security Council. Most of the
nations were not in favor of war in Iraq, but are interested in
disarmament and peaceful resolution there so that world peace and
unity could be maintained. Thereafter what has happened and is
happening are unpalatable to historians and world peace loving
people.
Pakistan
Pakistan’s nationalism is growing on Anti-India policy. Since its
independence violence, corruption, drug trafficking, smuggling and
terrorist activities are going on unchecked even though many
military and democratic governments have come to power there. There
were Islamic religious schools called madrassas preparing
Mujahideens [warriors] to carry out Jihads [holy wars] wherever
necessary in the world. After the fall of Afghanistan, Pakistan has
become the Epicenter of Terrorism having terrorist outfits training
youths for terrorist activities, which, India and the international
community have been asking it to stop once and for all in order to
promote world peace, security and brotherhood. Pakistan has made
promises to stop terrorist organizations there, but has not
fulfilled them so far. So, it is true in the case of Pakistan that
if the starting itself is wrong, everything will go wrong.
Just after India got independence, the then King of Kashmir Maharaja
Hari Singh understanding the hostile nature of Pakistan preferred
his State to remain part of India and accordingly Jammu and Kashmir
became integral part of India after the instrument of accession was
signed between them. From then on not only Hindus, but also Muslims
and Buddhists live in harmony following the unique Kashmiriyat
Culture there. But Pakistan thought otherwise. Believing that as
Muslims are in majority in Kashmir, they would succumb to its
intention, Pakistan tried to invade it by waging war against India
in 1949, 1965 and 1971, but only met with failures. Without
understanding the unique Kashmiriyat Culture based on secularism,
Pakistan somehow tried to wrest it from India on the basis of
Islamic religion, which did not successfully work in favor of it
with the Kashmir people. So, for the past two decades Pakistan has
been using terrorism as the instrument of its State policy by
encouraging terrorist infiltrations across the line of control and
cross border terrorism, which is only a proxy war against India.
Even today the unity and integrity of India sustain upon the
principles of unity in diversity [of languages, religions, castes,
cultures, etc.], secularism and democracy supported by the
principles of its foreign policy such as nonaggression,
non-interference, peace, friendship, cooperation, coordination and
coexistence. After the Second World War, the cold war began between
USA and USSR and India became a free nation. If one super power was
supported another super power had to be opposed. So, India adopted
non-alignment as the central aspect of its foreign policy in its
relationship with the other nations of the world, which was wrongly
understood by the international community in that period. To have
good neighborly relationship with its neighboring nations India
extended its hand of friendship to them. First, China betrayed India
by making naked aggression on Indian territories in Kashmir, Assam
and a little mid portion of North in 1962. Then only India realized
that without the support of a strong military force, it cannot give
life to its policies and so, developed its Indian National Army.
Next, even after the partition of the Subcontinent into India and
Pakistan, Pakistan tried to grab land from India in the wars of 1965
and 1971 and betrayed India many times.
After four decades, cold war came to an end. India tested atomic
bombs two times in 1974 and 1998 out of necessity to defend itself
from external enemies nearby and far off and has become one of the
nuclear power nations in the world. But Pakistan is even now
following the policy of anti-India to run its military government
without bothering abut the opinion and the development of its
people. So, really Pakistan is a great danger not only to India but
also to the world, which, the only Super Power of today, USA should
understand before it is too late, as it relies upon Pakistan in its
war against international terrorism, which is totally a wrong step
it has taken without having proper knowledge of foreign affairs.
It is said that one’s enemy’s enemy is a friend. So, on that basis
Pakistan and China became friends and shared the plunders effected
by them in India. As a token of this friendship, they built a road
link between Pakistan and China on the North of Kashmir. Though
India forgets and forgives the blunders, its neighbors aggressively
take advantage of that now and then.
Though Mohammad Ali Jinnah, leader of Muslim League proposed Two
Nation theory on the basis of religion and formed Pakistan nation,
all the Muslims of India did not go and settle there after the
partition of the Subcontinent of India. Even today the second
largest Muslim population of the world still lives in India and
enjoys more freedom and rights than it could anywhere else in the
world. This is the strength of India Pakistan is trying to break
without success for the past 60 years. The religious madness and
stubbornness have made rulers of Pakistan blind to see this reason
even after half a century means how incorrigible and hardcore type
of men they are! So, this hard nut can be cracked only by the joint
ventures of the international community.
