Recently I elaborated in these columns my view that the Murdoch media empire represented much more than the ambitions of the journalism industry. I ventured to suggest that Murdoch, as the world’s biggest media mogul, was the authentic voice of the global corporate lobbies that defined politics and controlled mainline media across the world. I identified the nexus between the People’s Republic of China and Corporate America as the real axis of evil that subverted democracy and exploited the peoples of the world. I speculated that the scale of the hacking indulged in by News of the World indicated intelligence gathering beyond the requirements of normal news gathering. I drew attention to the decades old honeymoon between Murdoch and China . The exposure of Murdoch therefore was interpreted as a possible fight back by nationalist forces against this evil nexus that has jeopardized security. Not surprisingly mine was a lone voice. Not surprisingly I encountered ridicule from friends who dubbed me as a conspiracy theorist. 

Well, I would like the sane, wise critics to explain how precisely the following information was germane to the requirements of genuine professional journalistic needs. British media has revealed that David Cameron’s Cabinet ministers have had private meetings with Murdoch executives more than 60 times excluding all social events. If social events are included the figure goes up to over 107! Twice James Murdoch and former News International chief executive Rebekah Brooks were given confidential defence briefings on Afghanistan and Britain 's strategic defence review by the Defence Secretary, Liam Fox. Another such briefing was held with Ms Brooks, Rupert Murdoch and the Sunday Times editor. On what basis did Rupert Murdoch attend such briefings? How were these briefings relevant to the government’s obligation to keep the media informed? How much information acquired from these confidential briefings was actually utilized in the columns of the Sunday Times? An honest answer and appraisal are required.

The Murdoch exposure shows all signs of a major global lobby war. The security lobby at long last is fighting against the corporate lobby that has recklessly jeopardized the world’s safety by patronizing negative forces to promote profits. Dr. Fai’s arrest, and for the first time Pakistan not insisting upon mention of Kashmir in the foreign ministers’ meeting concluded on Wednesday, could well be the harbinger of a paradigm change in the offing. Unfortunately, while the world is thinking afresh, the Indian government seems to be frozen in its tired old policies, unable to present new and innovative ideas.
