Magic Solution for India!

There is almost universal acceptance of the fact that India is in serious crisis. Governance has collapsed and corruption continues to mount. Civil society crusaders against corruption are attracting a huge response. Alas! Mr. Anna Hazare is not seen as an alternative Prime Minister. Nor does he want to become one. Mr. Arvind Kejriwal is seen by many as being as yet too immature to lead the nation. What is the solution? People rightly believe that one suitable leader at the top could set the system right. But where is that leader? After scanning all the political parties there seems none available.

There is one solution that suggests itself. It is practical though somewhat unorthodox. My solution is that the people of India should persuade Aung San Suu Kyi to become an Indian citizen and lead the nation. She has already stated that she feels herself to be part Indian. Let her become wholly Indian. Let her liberate a billion tortured souls from their daily misery. Clearly she understands and empathizes with the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru better than any living Congress leader. As prime ministerial candidate she would sweep the polls in the next general election.

As India’s Prime Minister she could also remedy the stupid policy towards Myanmar followed by successive Indian governments and greatly help her parent country. All that is needed for my plan to succeed is for the Indian people to convince Suu Kyi to render help to India. Probably the people of Myanmar will resent this arrangement. India therefore should offer to compensate them by sending Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi and LK Advani to Myanmar.

If this plan cannot for some reason be followed there is no alternative to chaos. Except of course a couple of leaders about whom some of my friends keep talking. They keep referring to these leaders and pin hopes on them to set things right. They claim that the two leaders in question are the only ones who can deliver. I don’t know anything about them myself. But they keep mentioning them, some chaps called Saturn and Mars …
