Badki Maar Kabir Ki…
by Prof.Shubha Tiwari Bookmark and Share

Once upon a time, there was very a cunning old couple. They had many sons and daughters and afterwards many grandsons and granddaughters. Playing games among children and grandchildren was their only past time. They wanted their children to constantly compete for their affection among themselves. They wanted their eldest son to rule above the rest of their children and likewise the eldest son of the eldest son to have an edge over the rest of their grandchildren. They would all the time try to cover their evil designs in sweet words.

One of their daughters could see through their evil designs. She didn’t want her children to be the helpless victims of this dirty game. She took her children away and put an amulet around their necks. She became free after putting the amulet. She, her husband and children got busy in their lives. Day in and day out, they worked hard and kept busy in building their lives. After a decade or so, she met her parents and siblings. Strangely enough, they were all fighting among themselves. Their children were quite ordinary. They were bitter against each other. She observed that her own children were doing much better and they were free from venom.
The amulet had worked! Everybody could see that.

The old couple was extremely frustrated. They cleverly asked their daughter, ‘What’s the secret of your upbringing of your children?’ She said, ‘I just tied an amulet on them and that’s all. I’ve not done anything special.’

That night, the cunning couple went to see her children when they were asleep. They took the amulet and broke it open. Lo and behold, what did they find inside! Just a line of Kabir:

Barki maar Kabir ki,
Jo chit se dei utaar

(The biggest blow to a person is that you put him/her out of your consciousness.)

This is the magic of Kabir. This is ‘Brahmastra’ in today’s world. Someone has evil intentions, crooked designs, plots, conspiracies etc., we have to do just one thing – put that person out of our consciousness. Even mighty enemies are defeated by this technique. Enemies become meaningless. They lose their balance. They do not matter anymore. The successes, the defeats – they all become your own. No one else has a share in them. Your life becomes your own.
