These Eyes

  These eyes have seen much
They have seen hope grow
They have seen hope die
In fading love and forgotten schemes

They have continued to gaze
But the horizon grows dim
Day loses its luster and night falls
And clouds seek to hide moonbeams

Still these eyes remember
Youth and passion and wild, carefree days
Of times when hope was all it took
To build what could never be conceived

But that was a long while ago
The weather is cold now it seems
These eyes still look out
But life holds no more dreams

Comment In my opinion, its never too late to start dreaming and never so bad that one can't even dream. I believe the poem would end at a positive note if the last line could be changed to 'But life holds some more dreams'.
