I'm an old and retired man. I sustain on pension and live in digital India.

Digital India is a flagship project of Government of India. It has a lofty aim to empower the citizens by making the government services available to them electronically. It's so big I couldn't even go through it superficially. I remain confined to what is applicable to me.

I get two pensions -- one from State bank of India, Sector 2, Noida, the other from the District Treasury, located in Greater Noida. Every pensioner has to submit a 'life certificate' by mid-November every year in order to get his/her pension for the period concerned. The government introduced "Jeevan Pramaan" to obviate the physical presence of the pensioner before the disbursing authority. I received negative replies from the officials at both the places. So, I've to be present -- rain or shine --in person for the purpose.

Next, for e-filing Income Tax Return I require to upload Form-16, containing the amount of pension paid and deductions made. This form also the functionaries at both places refused to supply.

I went there personally to collect them and there were further hurdles to upload them.

I'm still proud to live in digital India.
