To the left when facing the Arch from the North side, the sculpture depicts George Washington as Commander-in-Chief, accompanied by Fame and Valor. It was designed by Hermon Atkins MacNeil and installed in 1916. The sculpture of Washington is 16-foot high and shows him with hands resting on the pommel of an unsheathed sword. |
