New Friend

One morning, I began a solo journey
On a path rather less known to me
As I walked, I found myself lost
Making me helpless almost

Alas! I was carrying a broken compass
Or else I could have known where I was
The sun masked by clouds couldn't help me
And there was no one else to listen to thee

Then on, every move I made was so daunting
As sheer silence followed me haunting
So, I kept on talking to the nearby trees
And cared to listen to the songs of breeze

I told myself that I couldn't be wrong
In self I trusted and marched along
As I spent a while in that unfamiliar maze
I found something that brought back my courage

It was a trail of footprints seemingly recent
That caused my peaking fears gradually descend
How on earth could they have appeared there
If not for a passerby in that middle of nowhere

My hope got better like never before
Adding pace to my foot steps and more
And beyond the silhouette fog, in the end
I found a smile and a new friend
