Caged Singing Bird

The singing bird has been caged. 
It's fed well...very well 
so that it looks in its best of health. 
It's feathers are groomed each day 
so that it looks its best. 

But how can they feed its 
soul which is starving and 
dying each and every day 
a slow and painful death ? 
How can they possibly groom 
the wings of its spirit 
which is withering away with 
every passing day ? 

The big blue sky overlooking 
the cage and the bird inside it 
awaits helplessly 
and prays that some day 
the bird will gather the 
strength and the courage 
to break open the cage 
and set its soul and spirit free. 
And that day 
the singing bird will soar up the sky 
and will fly to places where it wants 
to go and explore 
and will sing to its heart content, 
its melody filling the air 
and the big blue sky reveling 
in the melodious air. 

May be some day......
