Innocence Lost

Behind the mango garden
hides a house from the carnal world
A sandalwood cradle swinging
currently in the backyard
an angel in his embrace
sleep lurking in his eyes
eyes-searching for the city of stars
for the princess who comes after dark
laden with jewels-
a shining star.
Lovingly she descends
and places sleep in his eyes.
The cradle swings joyously
creation celebrates:
A smile on his face, the child sleeps
lost in her embrace.
time flies by, creation waits
The trees are no longer there
the cradle lies in a corner
wondering where his angel is.
The princess watches quietly
pearls in her eyes
longing for a touch
which is no longer there.
She has descended in love
thrown her throne
She longs for her angel –
the boy who has grown.
