Tears Misunderstood

She sat right before me....
Far away and yet so near....
Someday she had smiled with glee....
Now, she just shed a tear....

Feelings were too complex to let out...
and people, impossible to let down...
She had tried to be like any other girl...
and now she was here to drown...

She was strange as a girl...
The fact just made her stranger....
Understanding friends, were a far fetched dream...
The pain just grew stronger....

She crouched right before me,
With distant looks in her eyes,
What remained behind plastic smiles,
who would ever surmise?

Who to blame, she knew not...
There were too many involved...
Dear ones would sound like leeches,
had the mystery been solved!

Her sad face stared back...
With eyes wet, were in thirst of joy...
Her mouth as if to utter...
An unframed alibi...

She had to face the world,
Give a reason for that tear...
A lie to be explained,
to cover up that fear...

Like the life, of one forsaken...
Forgiving, yet forgotten...
Loving yet not loved...
Understanding, yet misunderstood...

She stared back from thee mirror...
but who was she?
It may seem ironical to know...
The girl, was none other than me....
