Prayer On The 10th Day

The demon has been slain once again,
Space is astir and skies are swirling,
Denizens of heaven and natives of earth,
All gathered here singing your glories,
Amidst inundated rivers and rising oceans,
Offering prayers, chanting hymns,
Desirous of the heavenly throne,
Or fulfillment of a corporeal wish,
All converged at your feet, O Mother!

Demons and deities, fiends and angels,
Waging wars, seizing kingdoms,
Mortals and immortals, animals all,
Deluded, ignorant, conceited, since eternity
Sowing cravings, harvesting shadows,
Incarcerating your glory in their words,
Creating icons to confine your splendor,
How long will you let them continue?

Wield your trident now, O Mother!
Pierce the veil, dispel the pall,
Reveal to the gods and demons alike,
The kingdom of heavens that lies at your feet,
And to the ever beseeching mortals,
Bestow the vision for seeing,
Your splendor that transcends the image,
And also divulge to them the hymn,
That no words could ever compose.
The demon need not be slain then, O Mother!
