Making of Salt

His spectacles lie on a shelf.
The round rims look haunting
without the eyes.
The ink pen in the pen stand is dry.

Life size photographs
in the room enhance
the history’s black and white -
their gloss faded, they are biding time.

The austere appeal of the ashram
is glamorized
by a light and sound show every evening
as the ashram meditates
on the simplicity of Mahatma.

From the banks of Sabarmati
to the sea shore at Dandi
they replay Gandhi’s walk.

Braving heat and dust
Gandhinians retrace his steps,
all for a taste of truth with a pinch of salt!
