A Lesson
The
sun in the west
Awaits a glimpse
Of an eye peering onward
Towards the next perfect second.
Away from all synaptic visitors,
Just water cyclically brushes by.
Others carry on, beside and ahead
Play and laughter and living abound.
Two glances, giggle and gleam.
A subtle wink punctuates her story.
An ear project’s life through words
While his mind plays with his philosophy.
The constant balance required by him
Centers on an axis.
No loud gestures
Can shake this moment.
Energy will not allow it.
Kites freckle the sky,
For this afternoon’s stars gleam bright -
From above and even below.
As the day stretches its long arms,
A loving embrace for a fitting finish
The sun tucks itself into the horizon
Ready to sleep another night away.
Blessings in the moments and days
Can echo in eternity with only the simplest
Gesture of a forty minute walk.
