What Grim Reapers of darkness are these?
That from human psyche compassion squeeze,
Highjack justice, hack at peace! Men surreal?
Phantasmagoric are they, or real?
What ogres demonize normal beings
Cannibalize hearts, devour feelings?
Lucifer’s offspring? Or transmitted genes?
What impels architects of grisly scenes?
Were these victimizers too once victims
And so follow hatred’s ruthless dictums?
Or are they just putty in cagey hands
Of men far shiftier than shifting sands?
No society, religion or justice can
Condone the cruelties of man to man.
