Theme :  Old
My Wild Old Mind
by Dr. Manasi Dutt

I am in my old age
Retired and empty nested
I expect to be as cool as a sage
Then why does at times, my mind goes round and round
Like a wheel caught in a muddy ground?
A mind that is out of bound.
At my age I expect to be like a sage
Just when I am turning a new life- page

I wish to be
Of my ship the captain
The pilot of my plane
I wish to have my thought
Like a dog on leash, and I hold that taut
Instead I find on hand
A wild Royal Bengal Tiger roaming the land

However,
After the sun goes down
A cool air mass rests on the town
My thoughts settle down.
Finally my mind gets tame
It starts playing a much cooler game
I think like a sage
I leave my mortal cage
I fly away where the stars are
I cross the milky-way-bar
I float and dream
I fly and dream
Till my imaginations burst at the seam.

What do I do
I ask God
Give yourself up
Says the Lord

Go with the flow He orders
I shall help you to cross the borders.
At last my calm mind listens to God’s orders.
I float and dream
I leave the rest up to Him.
