Ocean Kiss

by Mary Novak

A wet kiss is like a dry fish and
it swims in the lush ocean of loving.
But this Love is not human and it
only kisses you to lure you closer.

You swim for the shore not knowing
where you are in this great kiss of life
as sunset sparkles and dances for you,
showing you the way to swim...
but only towards something that smells
even fishier.

I got so lost swimming this great ocean,
why is it so deep and dark after sunset?
A whale passes me by and a shark remarks
laughingly "don't be afraid, the ocean is full
of life and also mystery to be tasted."
I was hoping I wasn't his mystery
to be tasted.

For survival do I surrender and
drown in this deep ocean of love
or rush in its blindness until I am
so exhausted, not finding what I was
looking for in the safety of invisible shores?

When the day does come and you do
drown in the waters of life, you wake up.
Some of us swim here before our physical death,
understanding that it was only our deepest fear.
Once here, the sweetest kiss in the universe will greet you.
It was never called God, God is too small of a word,
only 3 letters. This place is called the great
Cosmic Ocean of Life itself, a small womb of
luster-filled lighted stars sleeping deep inside
her infinite void.
