Theme : Legacy
All That's Left Of Me Now
by Charles Cavanaugh

The way the light
fell across your face

The quickest glance
a deep river of destiny

Without correction or praise
sublime and unknown
you gave yourself to me

In an ancient land
a desert house of clay

I lifted a draped door
your presence - no ego

The eternal source
burned bright in you

Through your weathered hands
the holy connection

What do I have to show for such care?
Where empires came and went
you stayed and believed in me

I am so weak
my flame would go out
with the slightest breath

But if you called
I would shine like the sun

Every barrier would melt
before my fire with ease

To reach you
on a wave of thanks

I remember the day
you saw the essence in me

The echo of that glance
awakens still
in each gentle word
and act of kindness

All that's left of me now -

A reflection on the sea
The smile of a child
The smell of the earth

A mirror of truth
in the palm of your heart
