Question 1075
Hi Michael, Right now we have our living, dining, kitchen, bathroom and a spare room on the ground floor and the master bedroom and attached toilet and our sons room on the first floor. We are planning to shift upstairs and rent out the lower portion of the house. The new layout is as follows- Kitchen and dining as one room in the south east, a study room next to the dining room, living room in the north east, main entrance in the north west (which is the corner of the house) master bedroom in south west and toilet in north west. The stairs leading to the house face west. Is this ok according to Vastu? My husband had a bypass surgery a month back and I am nervous about doing the wrong thing.
– Anjali Manohar, November 26, 2006

In general it is sort of ok, but also, this type of existing house is usually NOT compliant enough for Vastu effects to be good. Cook facing east, sleep with top of head to east or south. – Michael Borden, December 10, 2006

Question 1074
Hi, Q1. We have more space in South then in North, also we have a cross road in south with closes after some length. In south GD floor we have parking space and in 1st floor we have balcony. What do we do? Q2. Our house is below the road, I mean it is a old house and the road level is higher than our house around 1ft difference. What do we do? But we stay in 1st floor. Thanks and Regards,
– Vineet Bothra, November 26, 2006

It sounds like you have some basic things that are not compliant with Vastu. I recommend, if you are concerned with Vastu compliance, that you find another place to live. But get some professional Vastu consultation before you move. – Michael Borden, December 10, 2006

Question 1073
How can we arrange the machine, store, office in factory?
– Rajesh, November 26, 2006

In general, put the master's office in the Southwest area. Storage in the Northwest. Take in product in center north. Production can move clockwise around a free and open center. I advise you take a professional consultation on this. There are many details to be attended to. – Michael Borden, December 10, 2006

Question 1072
The entrance door should open inside North? means when I enter, I should face North? Is my understanding correct?
– Rajat Thakur, November 26, 2006

Entrance doors can face any orientation. The LOCATION of the door is important, not the facing. A north door should be in the center of the building. – Michael Borden, December 10, 2006

Question 1071
Hi, I would like to ask you about my 3 bed room flat, which is under construction. The details of the flat are as follows: 1) Main entrance is east facing. 2) planning to have a puja room in south east corner of Living/Dinning room. Entrance of the puja room will be north facing. 3) Master bed room is south west side of flat. 4) Second bed room is south east side of the flat. 5) Third bed room is north west of the flat. 6) kitchen entrance is south facing. Using above details are you able to tell the Vastu please?
– Mohandas Hegde, November 26, 2006

It is very difficult to apply Vastu principle to an existing flat. You can't treat it as an individual only, you need to consider the whole building configuration also. You must verify the REAL building orientation, not just roughly figure that it faces east or some such direction. Analysis of your flat requires expert and careful consultation. In general, the facing of a door can be ANY direction of the cardinal points, BUT, it MUST be properly located. Just to have an east facing door does not solve the problem. It must be auspiciously located. Master bedroom in south west is good, but it must be located within the whole context of the group of flats also. The same goes for all the room locations. Don't worry about the facing of your interior doors, it is completely insignificant in this case. Unless they are properly designed and constructed, with gaps between the walls of the individual flats, these type of modern buildings create a situation where there is no vibrational separation between families. You should not have your puja area in the SE, it needs to be in the NE.  – Michael Borden, December 10, 2006
