Sometime ago a feature article in a magazine carried the title "Woe man!" describing  the woman as the 'woe of man'. Perhaps, it couldn't be more incorrect. The two foremost god-created instincts in the living organisms including human being are "self-preservation" and "procreation". The former for 'survival' and the latter for 'multiplication', which encompasses sex and love among the living beings on this planet. Some thinkers have enunciated that all activity on earth is a function or malfunction of these two attributes. An amoeba withdraws  from a hostile environment, and man (Homo sepiens) prepares himself for a 'fight' or 'flight' when subjected to danger and 'stress'. Sex and love is an emotion, a passion, and an obsession  among humans, guiding or misguiding man through his life.

Benjamin Desraeli has said, "We are all born to love .... it is the principle of existence and its only end".

Eros in Greek mythology is the God of love equivalent to the Roman god Cupid, depicted as a winged boy carrying a bow and arrows, and is blind-folded. He married Psyche, a beautiful mortal woman, who was also the personification of the soul.  In Greek and Roman mythology Priapus was the god of procreation, and the guardian of gardens and vineyards. The Hindu deity Shiva,  conceived as a member of the triad including Brahma and Vishnu, is worshipped as a destroyer and restorer of the worlds in its numerous forms.

Truly if "virtuousness" has to be allocated a gender it is feminine, while "virtuosity" is masculine. Rasputin (1872?-1916), a Russian monk whose magnetic personality and success in the treatment of czarevitch's (eldest son of the czar of Russia) haemophilia gained him great favour in the court of Nicholas. Later, he was assassinated by noblemen who feared his licentious manner, which became a danger to the monarchy.  Casanova de Seingalt (1725-1798) was an Italian adventurer who after his expulsion from a seminary wandered Europe meeting luminaries and working in various capacities established himself as a great lover. 

As a matter of reproduction man is the 'impregnator' and the woman the 'impregnated'.

Perhaps the onus of impregnation lies on the man. In fact, it is not a matter of onus or bonus, as the cause of failure (infertility) may be on either side. Thus, both man and woman are complementary to each other in all matters of life on this earth. Thus, the title "Woe man!" is rather partisan and pessimistic.
