Responding to the bomb blasts in Pune, newly appointed Home Minister Mr. Sushil Kumar Shinde said the he took the explosions very seriously but could only comment after investigations were completed. However, Mr. Shinde was kind enough to favour the public with an initial response.
People are worried about what the Pune bomb blasts imply. They might have to worry much more about what the new Home Minister’s performance may imply. |
He said: “It does not appear to be an act of terror.”
That comment is almost as terrifying as the low intensity bomb blasts. Does it indicate what the future holds for us during his tenure as Home Minister?
To be fair Mr. Shinde may have displayed merely his verbal confusion. What he meant perhaps was that the blasts may not have been perpetrated by a known terrorist outfit.
Unfortunately confusion about words leads very often to confusion about thoughts.
The blasts may eventually be traced to local elements or foreign, to hardened terrorists or first-timers, but in God’s name what do four even low intensity serial bomb blasts within a short space of time indicate? If not terror, could the blasts be rehearsal for Diwali celebrations?
After relinquishing the Power Ministry Mr. Shinde has already given his performance very high marks in the light of the world’s biggest ever blackout. He has claimed that he was more efficient than his counterparts in the US .
People are worried about what the Pune bomb blasts imply. They might have to worry much more about what the new Home Minister’s performance may imply.
