It is Id today. After 30 days of fasting our muslim brothers and sisters will end their fasting following the Namaaz, the devotional prayer.

Austerity is a virtue. Fasting is an age-old tradition of austerity. It cleanses the mind, purifies the heart, shows a light to follow a path of love, peace and mercy. The light-house to guide the voyage is sacrifice that is what Idul Fitr stands for. Ramdaan, in essence, teaches us a higher philosophy to conduct ourselves for the good of the society and the mankind at large. If these noble thoughts we do not place in our front, then the true spirit of Ramdaan will not be realised.

May peace and harmony prevail. May the smoke of the gun not blind our cherished path of love and co-existence.

On this auspicious day let us wish all in general and muslim brothers and sisters in particular Happy Id. Id Mubarak!
