On the first of this month, we celebrated a day that promotes cleanliness in our country. This is appreciable. However, in many cases, it became a show for photo-ops where the influential were seen with a broom in their hand chipping in with their mite for society. A commentator said that it's the power of symbolism that will yield the results finally. If that be truly so, I would urge the  PM of the country to declare a particular day as National Donation day. We can have the same set of enthusiasts among the affluent with photo ops ready for philanthropy that would benefit the less privileged of our society and help reduce the rich-poor gap that seems to be widening in the country as per economic estimates.
