A Visit to Birmingham and Coventry

We left the British Council Office in Portland Place at *8:30 A.M. and reached Coventry at 12:15 P.M. We saw the old ruins of the Coventry Cathedral of St. Michael. It was ruined by five bombs during the night of 14th November 1940. Coventry suffered the longest air raid during the second world war.

The present modern Cathedral construction started on 8th January 1954. and completed on 24th April1962. The consecration took place on 25 May1862 in the presence of H. M. the Queen. The Baptismal Font is a 3-ton sandstone boulder brought from the Valley of Blessedness near Bethlehem.
