Proteomics

Proteomics is the study of the complex interactions between proteins in the cell, and how these chemical reactions form healthy or diseased cells. It has become a major area of focus since mapping of the human genome. We are in the early stages of revolution that started with genomics and proteomics.

The deficiency of the enzyme mitochondrial trifunctional protein Is supposed to be responsible for sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). In humans the absence of this enzyme causes a buildup in fatty acid products in the newborn child, producing toxins that lead to cardiac arrhythmias and respiratory arrest.
