A father had given his small son a Shilling and a six Pence.

The six pence were for the boy, and the shilling for the church collection bag.

After the Church service the father asked the son if he had put the shilling in the bag.

"No Dad, because the preacher said, I should be a cheerful giver, and I felt more cheerful by giving only six pence".
 

The Appendix of the New Book

"Why did you tear the back part of that new book?", asked the wife of the absent-minded doctor. 

"Excuse me dear", said the famous surgeon, "the part you speak of was labelled 'Appendix', and I took it out without thinking".
