When I was a student of Intermediate Science (ISc) in Ewing Christan College Allahabad, long back in 1951, our prescribed English Textbook was titled "Quest and Conquest" by Malcolm Burr. It had a chapter titled," Family Medicine".
One person Antoine Cesar was working as an engineer in Napoleon's armies in Spain and France.
After the fall of Napoleon, he retired from the army and became interested in electricity and received great distinction by receiving the Copley Medal of the Royal Society of London. He then became the Professor of Physics in the Natural History Museum in Paris in 1837 and held the position till he died
In 1878. His son Alexander Edmond born in 1820 succeeded him as professor in the museum till he died in 1878 at the age of ninety. He devoted himself in the study of light and died in 1891. His son Antonie Henry became a civil engineer. This is how science ran in the family.
The Function of Education
The function of education is to teach one to think intensively, and to think critically. Intelligence plus character is the goal of true education. – Martin Luther King Jr.
