Be Happy - With Lots of Tears!

The freedom of expression and room for all has its advantages and drawbacks. If one could find one out of ten (I am erring on the higher side!) worthy, the rest nines are packed with either uncalled for fights, violence, raw sex, crude comedy, despicable criminal acts and above all the highest quotient of absurdity with emotions rolled out with treacle.

If you are ready for an unapologetic and impossible tear jerker with bizarre negative imagination, you can watch ‘Be Happy’ by Remo.

Now in the present-day parlance, I understand ‘dance’ refers more to ‘acrobatics, gymnastics, and calisthenics’ than aesthetics. Well, one can say it is due to the influence of the West, and changes in time and so also the aspirations of Newgen. Might be.

I am sorry. I belong to the old gen. So, forgive me for not patronizing such unadulterated idiocy and forced emotional drama staged in this movie ‘Be Happy’. It was shocking to see the money spent for the grandeur and show off for the shows like ‘Super Dancer’ or ‘Super Singer.’

To be honest, I felt sad after watching this 2-hour nonsense. A sprightly young girl (Inayat Verma) aspires to become a Super Star Dancer, aka an acrobat for me, much to the chagrin of her single parent dad (Abhishek Bachchan) but a patronizing grandpa (Nasser). But when everything works in the girl’s favour, she is found to be a patient of cancer.

There is a great difficulty in making a movie with a strong storyline, tight screenplay, powerful drama, and direction. True. No sex, no violence, but surfeit of emotions and overwork for yours as well as the performers’ lachrymal glands. If you are addicted to anything worth watching in the name of a film, go watch and cry bitterly (if you are moved), or go to sleep with either total indifference or a heavy heart.

One cannot ‘Be Happy’ after watching this movie directed by Remo De’ Souza, a choreographer turned director, because of all the reasons I have listed above.
