Bollywood Flashback : 1

1. Did you know that Raj Kapoor had offered "Satyam Shivam Sundaram" first to Hema Malini and Vidya Sinha? Both of them ran screaming in the opposite direction.

2.When Shotgun (Shatrughan Sinha) was a newcomer, he played a brief role in a 1967 movie called Saajan in which the lead pair was Asha Parekh - Manoj Kumar. Reportedly, Asha gave a hard time to Shotgun. Years later, Asha had to suffer the ignominy of playing Shotgun's mom and every time a scene would be shot between them, Shotgun Sinha would call out to the spot boys - "Dettol le ana bhaiya."

A few months later, Reena Roy, who was then Shotgun's heart throb tried to mend fences between them, but this did not work out.

3. David Dhavan's 1992 movie "Aankhen" was a complete rip-off of the Mehmood - Vinod Mehra starrer "Do Phool" (1972). It was David's cousin Govinda who suggested the idea to David. We all know how "Ankhen" became a huge block buster. The movie helped only Dhawan and Govinda. Everyone else associated with this movie faded into oblivion.

Ritu Shivpuri simply could not make it in Bollywood and she said in an interview that both Govinda and David Dhawan gave her empty assurances. Both the producer-actor duo ignored Ritu as they had Karisma Kapoor for company. Sadly, once Govinda' s market position slipped, Karisma dropped him like a hot potato. Such are the ways of the world. Bollywood actors and actresses are ruthless in these matters.

Shilpa Shirodkar simply did a few more movies before moving abroad after marriage. Now she has just like her best friend Madhuri (Dixit) returned back to Mumbai and is playing a domesticated role in a Zee TV serial.

Rageshwari could not make any dent in movies. Chunky faded out and became a side-kick eventually. Radha Seth, who played a negative role in the movie, quit movies to settle down in
Pune.

4. Kum-Kum a very popular actress in the 60's and 70's was often referred to as Ramanand Sagar's blue eyed girl. Reports allege that they were a couple. Though Kum Kum was Garam-Dharam's heroine in his debut movie - Dil Bhi Tera, Hum Bhi Tere, eight years later she played Dharam's sister in Ramanand Sagar directed "Ankhen". Incidentally, Ramanand Sagar is the eldest brother of Vidhu Vinod Chopra.

5.Shashi Kapoor had rejected an offer to act with Mumtaz because she was a character artiste. A few years later, Mumtaz hit the jackpot and soon Shashi realized that his movies were becoming big duds at the box office. He approached Mumtaz and the great lady forgave him for his earlier misdemeanors and acted with him in some hit movies like - " Chor Machaye Shor".

6. Amol Palekar worked in a bank before moving to Bollywood.
