The more I am seeing Narendra Modi, the more I am getting surprised. What a far cry is Bengal's political leadership from the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi. And who are the icons of Shri Narendra Modi? Two of the probably half a dozen are Swami Vivekananda and Shri Shyama Prasad Mukherjee! And who are icons of  Bengal political leaders? Certainly not the above two.

Probably Narendra Modi will contribute next only to Shri Bidhan Chandra Roy, Shri Jyoti Basu and Shri Pranab Mukherjee. One man they maligned and did not allow to contribute has been Shri Siddhartha Shankar Ray. Most middle class Bengalees will speak against Shri Jyoti Basu, I know. And a silent contributor have always been Shri Pranab Mukherjee, our country's present President.

How foolish of Bengalees to have always ignored the real stalwarts. And they take so much pride of their intellectual superiority! They talk about their political maturity, but mostly preside over rigged elections!

And to what pass the political leadership has brought Bengal's life to! As if Bengal has decided decades back that they will never accept the truth, they will never look upto people who should be looked up to.

Decades back I felt that Bengalees are following the footsteps of Israelites. A fear lurks in my mind, if that per chance be the truth, it will not augur well for the Bengalees.

Coming back to Shri Narendra Modi, every bit he is matching upto the stature that is expected of an Indian leader. May be a short on finesse, but surely huge in effectivity. Bengal, will you shed your arrogance, and learn from Shri Narendra Bhai Modi? He expects us to be optimists like him. Will we measure upto his optimism? If not, it will be to our peril. Brothers and sisters of Bengal, I entreat you to learn from Shri Narendra Modi.

Will some publisher please publish high points of Shri Modi's speeches during election campaign and subsequently. He really is a ray of hope for all of us, who were almost loosing hope about our system. Truly, India has given birth to a great leader. "Jadaa jadaa hi dharmasya glaanirbhabati Bhaarata ..." has come true one again. I thank almighty God for this.
