Agnim Ile Purohitam declared the Angiras, keepers of our household fires
And it became the opening line of Rig Veda, Book of our Knowledge Supreme
Agni sanctified calls all the other devas Hotram Devasya they said
And the great Purifier yielding dhani-ratnam of great value to the tribes
Became custodian of their Ritas, cosmic laws by which they must abide

Sapt rishis of vedas acclaimed primacy of Agni and it became our Primal Deva;
Rich in good heroes subduing foemen, That vital power give thou
to our chiefs and singers prayed the GRtsmadas
To Rishis of Vishvamitra clan, Agni the Immortal serving the Deities
will never break their everlasting laws dharmani sanatana durdashata

O Agni bring with favour to the devas thy Brother Varun who loves Yagya
implored Rishi Vamdeva Gautam
To thee, Most youthful Deva! To thee, O’ Agni,
from near and far the people bring their tribute said the Atreyas
O Agni, worker of marvels, thou has become our herald praised Rishi BArhaspatya

Victorious Agni, grant me wealth with wisdom,
Wealth with brave sons, famous and independent,
which not a foe who deals in magic conquers prayed Vasishtha Maitravaruni
O Agni, with thy mighty wealth, guard us from all malignity
and all hate of mortal man implored KANava poets fervently

O’ Agni standing the test of time, thou serve us through passage of our lives
be it Namakaran, Upnayana or the Marital Vows, thy blessings we seek
Seeta took Agni Priksha and the Great Purifier bowed to the Goddess of Purity!
And when we reach the end of our own journey of life O’Agni
Returning Dust to Dust, we come to thy lap for the final Yagya of our Life!
