Counter Fear

So, a month back I was stuck in my apartment lift for a total of 5 minutes but that experience stayed with me a little longer than I had anticipated. It was 5 minutes of pure panick and torture as I banged the elevator doors with my hands to get the attention of the guard sitting on the ground floor. With a quick snap of electricity, the doors opened and I was relieved.

What is fear and what is the nature of this fear? Fear is something we experience when we anticipate future events or when we look back at some incidents in the past. It has nothing to do with our present. It is something abstract. But, when we are in a difficult situation, fear helps us prepare for it by releasing adrenaline.

Fear has no place when things are normal around us. It is like running a probability test in your brain running through infinite alternatives. Basically, fear is pointless beyond measure. It distracts us, takes us away from present, from our happiness and even from our work. And we all deserve to be happy. Isn't that what even gurus and maharishis aim to achieve by devoting themselves to God.

Happiness is the supreme reality of life. It is how we are supposed to live our life. It is not a goal and not a task. It is ingarined deep in our nature and we should let it flow inside us. And not let it be obstructed by fear. So, be happy and smile!
