I viewed critically when Smriti Irani was made human resources minister. I would rather have a human resources minister as a one having scholarly felicity. But for the first time I appreciate one decision by her when she chaired Vice Chancellor's conclave just recently, viz., the decision to have our National Flag in every central university. Why such a decision took close neigh 70 years is a surprise for our polity. Probably because BJP is a nationalist party, the decision came from the BJP dominated NDA Government. THER HUAA DURUST HUAA should be the general sentiment. As regards the current JNU saga, a point to be noted is that how opportunists can take to ransom our Constitution-enshrined right to free thought. Alas, how fooloish can one become! Right to free thought does not give license to Right to free action! If the whole episode angered some lawyers is understandable. But they too do not have right to free action of beating up students and journalists. And that too in court premises! Alas, how easily we are carried away and get physical! Everybody, who have directly or indirectly transgressed propriety should publicly apologise. Otherwise, surely our jurisprudence knows how to size up such elements.
