Last weekend, I and hubby went on a long driving holiday.
Our final destination was in North-East Yorkshire about 300 miles from our home in South-East Essex.
As usual, just as it happens for all our trips, I did all the route-planning, packing, hotel reservations, etc.
While driving we use Sat-Nav and Google Maps, but as the distance was much to cover, we wanted a place to rest midway while going from home as well as returning home.
I typed up the postcodes of our home and the Yorkshire place where we were supposed to go and this website proved to be very useful.
It showed us a place about 150 miles from our home where we could rest for the night while going and coming.
Thursday evening we started and spent the night in a Lincolnshire hotel. Friday morning we resumed our travel and reached Yorkshire where we spent a day in a seaside hotel. Saturday morning, we drove back to Lincolnshire, stayed again in the same hotel and Sunday we came back home. Every day from Thursday to Sunday, we drove quite a lot seeing various places thru the counties of Cambridgeshire, Huntingdonshire and Nottinghamshire besides the other 2 counties of Lincolnshire and Yorkshire where we stayed.
The 2 hotels where we booked our accommodation were 1) Belton Woods Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort where the verdant views were superb, the rooms were elegant, food was good but there was no room service despite this being a 4-star hotel. Perhaps they've stopped it after Covid. 2) The Park Hotel where we had booked a sea-view suite and the North Sea charmed us with its tides and waves. Food was good and we were surprised to find room service in this 3-star hotel, not having got it in the 4-star resort.

Our driving holiday was a bit hectic but there was so much sight-seeing that we really enjoyed a lot and eagerly look forward to the next trip to someplace else.
For a driving holiday to give you good memories, these are needed:
Good Health - if health fails, you won't enjoy.
Good Weather - may not be perfect but it should not be heavily snowing, hailing or raining.
A nice place to stay - usually good hotels have safe & clean rooms and give good food.
Very few traffic jams and well-paved roads.
Good bank balance as fuel, food and hotel stays are all expenses.
A well-maintained vehicle and hence, the car you own should always be roadworthy.
A compatible travel companion who's supportive and helpful.
That's all I had to share for now.
Cheers
