Lamentation

This is an elegy, a lamentation for the celebration of women’s day. Raising slogans to woman power, holding meetings that pay verbal homage to women is an insult to injury; women are constantly at danger in India, as has been proved once again by the gang rape of a Brazilian travel blogger in Jharkhand. She travelled through 63 countries but this happened only in India. It makes every woman feel violated, disgusted and humiliated. We live in fear.

Where is the roadmap to deliverance? The amended laws have no teeth; legal recourse seems to have lost its depth and has become an eye-wash, an illusion. Women continue to be raped, dehumanized, denied justice…
Will Indian men wake up to their responsibility and not be part of this outrage on women through silence?

I will tag nobody but I urge all, particularly the men to read the column of journalist and editor, Karanjeet Kaur. If the link given below doesn’t work for whatever reason I appeal to you copy/paste and read it.
