Women in France protest against Rape.
Gisèle Pelicot, a 72-year-old retired logistics manager, has been hailed as a feminist hero worldwide.
By waiving her anonymity, Gisèle Pelicot has forced France to confront its rape culture and clawed back the power her attackers took from her.
She says it's not out of bravery: "It's will and determination to change society."
Gisèle told the court: "The profile of a rapist can be normal, can be a friend or a family man."
"People aren't born perverted, they become it," she said.
Members of the public outside the courts have cheered daily for the woman who said she was “determined that things change in this society”, in particular the “macho, patriarchal society that trivialises rape”.
