Engineering the Clerks of India

It is learnt that about 5,000 Engineering graduates are joining Indian banks as clerks very soon. It is a complete failure of Govt. of India (GOI) and its Ministry of Human Resources if it happens. In a world where Engineers are always in short supply and in a country which needs Engineers to create the necessary infrastructure needed to satisfy the basic amenities for its citizens, if thousands of  Engineers are going to sit in the banks for mere data entry and paper pushing, the situation is nothing but deplorable. We should take special note that it is happening when India is supposed to have a Prime Minister (though unelected) who is considered an “economic wizard” and supposedly the most educationally qualified in the entire world. It is time to deliberate on whether all such retrograde policies of GOI are merely accidental or by design. There may be someone powerful at the top who does not want to see India emerge as an economic and military superpower. Remember that we also had Jaichands, Jafirs and Dayals at all times.
