Yummy chocolate cake

 It surprises me how controlling the temptation to have something, only makes us want it more. The something that I am referring to here is a chocolate cake. The more I resist eating it, the more I want it. And the result is that none of my purposes are solved- of not gaining weight and of enjoying the chocolate cake.

And if you don't eat, you think about it all the time. The image is there staring at you all the time. I believe the only way out is, let that image be there. When you look at the cake,  see it as an object. Don't think about it- whether you like it or dislike it. Just try doing this, it works. Automatically, within few seconds the temptation is gone. You stop feeling anything towards it and then its just a chocolate cake. 

This can be extrapolated to more meaningful things as well especially in cases when you don't like someone or someone has not lived up to your expectations. Its very easy to spew venom about that person. This way you are still thinking about him/ her and what that person has done is still affecting you. The very moment you dislike something, just disassociate all your thoughts, opinions with that person and see him/ her just like a human being and nothing else. And you will see the difference yourself. You will be much more calmer and whatever has happened will not affect you anymore.
