Once in four years,
even the sun forgot to set alarm
and rose early
only to disturb the lovers
and the kids alike…
One extra day,
Twenty four hours on the beach,
who wants to ‘save nine’
all forgot to ‘stitch in time…’
For the full one day
the child was stuck to mother’s warm lap,
another day to play hide-and-seek
and to rejoice, laugh and clap
The birds chirped many more songs
and in joy flew extra miles,
young girls had extra hours in front of the mirror
to view and review their sensuous styles
The hawkers pushed their carts one day more,
the farmers toiled hard in the field,
extra booties the realtors earned
and workers sat in the sun tall houses to build.
Ever at the receiving end
the men folk carried extra provisions home,
drove more, were tired,
yet no respite from usual ‘homely’ storm!
