My soft cheeks
In your tender hands
Strands of naughty hair on my forehead
You put them straight with your fingers
Sitting on your knees
My shoes you shined to a twinkle
Saw me off to school, college...
And another home
Where ever I went,
I carried you along
My first teacher
But then I saw you on the hospital bed
Gasping for breath but...
Never forgetting to thank the nurse
And then you started sinking
Your roar of a voice once
Now fading into silence
The eyes that spelled wonders
Closed down....
I am proud of you dad
You died like a brave warrior
You always said Jatasya Maranam Druvam
Every one is bound to die
So I try not to cry
And continue to live with your words...
Never say die!
