Shattered Dream

Hour after hour, I keep on crying,
Slowly, gently, bit by bit, I am dying,
The sunny smile on my face is fading,
Towards an unknown hell I am heading.

He left me to suffer till my last breath,
Who will be there to offer me a wreath?
As my cadaver will lie, who will burn it?
But before I die, shall we never meet?

Somebody, somewhere must have cursed me,
That I will never ever be able to stay happy,
And see, how lonely, how dejected I feel,
Without any wish to live, without any will!

He hurt me so much that my eyes are bleeding,
I never knew love can be so much misleading,
That we lose our dignity, our self-esteem,
And are stamped by our own shattered dream!

Comment Express all the sorrow of the deeply wounded heart
Compose your anguish with utmost poetic justice
Universe has no sorrow that poetry cannot heal
At least future shall learn of those treacherous soul
...
I do not know whether to praise the verse or pity the wounded soul...

Comment Congratulations, Rupradha. However, I feel sad with the tone of the poem. True, love is above dignity and self-esteem, but never debasing. It brings flowers in life and drizzle in one's sky. Please wait, the sky will change...
