Shall I call it
My sheer neglect
Or take a recourse to
My off-late pressing schedule.
I could not pay attention
To nurture and nourish
My favourite container-grown plants.
By the time I was aware
It was too late.
Due to lack of
Proper attention and care
Leaves had drooped, flowers withered
And stems too were dry and shrivelled.
Any amount of water and manure
Could not revive them
To bring back life yet again.
Is this not true
in human relations too?
Someone who is close to our heart
Someone whom we love and care most
Unable to fathom or perceive
One's emotions and expectations
We tend to take one for granted.
Unintentional negligence,
Yet it hurts
One's aspirations and sentiments
And slowly but decisively
Destroys the relation.
By the time we wake up
The damage is done
And what is left behind, is
A life long repentance
Loneliness and pain.
