Theme: Inspiration

Beyond Petals and Thorns

Layers of soft petals

and rows of sharp thorns

are just not all that a rose has,

behind this marvel and grace

deep within hides a face,

an age-old challenge to us

to discover and to trace…

Lovely eyes

Forehead free of wrinkles

Flowing golden locks

Cherubic cheeks

Soft melody in the voice

are not all that she is born with,

in the cavern of her heart

there lies a chest full of love…

A great challenge in life -

a long wait and deep sighs,

to break open the ribs

to explore the priceless treasure-trove!

Comment "A great challenge in life -

The rose holds so much, and yet, there is tragedy in the making, alive, she remains mysterious, dead she is just a wasted flower... perhaps even the treasure trove may be an illusion!

What the eyes behold, the fragrance we find, the intricate intimate folds, the tantalizing shape the yearning it begins in lovers... a rose is just a rose, the prettiest of all!

Thanks Dr Kumarendra for this vision of a poem!
