One can't really choose either
Yet given a choice
What would you vote for
To befriend and love
Or love and be friend!
Have a look around
You may find many
Who were friends in love
And lived happily ever after.
But I met this man
Who loved and became friend
In consequence
For the material world
He remained an accomplished
Professional and leader
But in the spiritual arena
What others couldn't see
He remained an utter failure
A wretched and emotional wreck.
It also depends
What your destiny is
And how you invest
But blessed are those
Who befriend and love in life.
