A shield of silence
Can be turned on and off
Keeping me cosy 
An escape to my inner self.

But what if the shield is on
And I am trapped
In a world of my silence
Reduced to childhood
And I no longer hear voices
Telling of love’s surprises?

Infantile tears
Unable to switch off silence
Prisoner of a shield
When no one listens my scream
