Genesis Rides To Global Warming

Voices of thunder
Shaking rain from clouds
To nourish the roots of fear
From which we sprang
And rode our newborn hours
Over the hoof beats of time
Heading to disillusioned distances
One transparent shape passing another
Against a background of metallic lights
Through echoes of silence

Behind us
Unraveling in the winds
The width and breadth of our souls’ length
Stomping through
Rushing on

No time to wipe away the tears of broken willows
Nor hear the gentle secrets drifting with the clouds
Straining every sinew to lasso
The silver stars of night
Rattling our sabers

We drove a stake through the moon
And when the sun burned
itself into a molten ball
Of flames in hollow skies
Exhausted, empty
We fell down to rest
On our piles
Of tired prayers and broken dreams
