A Handful of Jasmine

jasmine in hand.jpg

Bhabha,
you have gone
far away somewhere

Today I got
a handful of jasmine
which are tender like your heart
and fragrant like your thoughts
holding a handful of jasmine
I miss you, Bhabha

I know a handful of jasmine
cannot speak of you
nor prove my gratitude

Bhabha, I had always felt
the soothing touch of your eyes
on my back
my growing height
my juvenile and bright
my daring flight
all made you happy
but -
your weariness
your helplessness
your sinking voice
your being without choice
all never worried me

I was there in your every dream
but I was heedless to
your heart's screams
yet you remained still and composed
overall

exactly like you are seen
in the photo on the wall
now there are no offerings from me
only some tears and
a handful of jasmine......!

{Bhabha = the way I used to address my father}

Comment Very heart touching expressions. Why do not you write poem these days ? These are summer holidays ,and you are free from burden of teaching and daily up and down.So it will be good use of time to write some new poems.I think,You will not make us disappoint.A lot of thanks.
