When the cup of sorrow overflows,
Earth shattering grief overwhelms,
Despair, gloom and melancholy looms large.
The whole being is drenched in tears,
Darkness envelops the soul,
Acute pain pulls one's heartstrings,
Indeed the loss seems irrevocable.
The sphere of sorrow is deep and unending,
Strong is its grip, wrenching and wringing the very being,
Is death any different, one wonders?
Wishing that one were dead,
The circle of loneliness closes in.
Then, a ray shines forth
From a source unknown,
As it comes closer, it dispels the dark clouds of gloom
Hope dawns and bright sunlight shines on the inner world
Once again sorrow is defeated
And happiness reigns.
