Theme: Suffering

Perverts' Paradise!

‘If I were a boy?’
How many girls keep thinking…
As eyes pop out, looks pierce,
Every step an agony,
Each dress transparent,
Bus stops, railway coaches,
Eateries for the depraved.

Was it Virginia Woolf who wrote
‘A Room of one’s Own?’
Who will write ‘A Tomb of one’s own?’
As girls molested in public places,
No room or space for a lady,
Except in spicy songs and item numbers!

Wasn’t mother once a girl?
Wasn’t sister too a girl not so long ago,
Why shameless inhumanity on display?
Can’t a girl attend a birthday party?
Why molest with impunity in public?
Adamant apathy all around!
Who gave power to manhandle girls?
Who approved physical torture?

Are roads, buses for men alone?
None to counter, none to blast blighters!
Hyper media major culprit,
Spineless viewers, silent partners!

Comment a poem inspired by what recently happened to a particular girl. this is a man's world. just think of Draupadi who was denuded in the presence of so many people. the title is apt . written in the white heat of emotion, good one

Comment Brilliant and powerful !!
"Hyper media major culprit,
Spineless viewers, silent partners!" - Truly commendable.

And oh, how so even I at times, greatly wish "If I were a boy"
