Theme: Relationship

An Old Fashioned Marriage

He is my husband
My best friend
My lover
He gives me love and care
As much as he can bear

In illness and health
He loves me the same
For him life is a
Commitment
And not a game

People say he is not handsome on his face
I have seen his soul full of poise and grace.

He forgives my wrong words and deeds
How can you be so generous?
I ask him
He answers with a smiling beam

He is true to me,
No exception ever
In my heart I know
I could never get a man any better.

In stroke when I lay limp
He scooped me up
He whispered in my ear
Don't worry
You will again get up
With half a body? I whispered back
That does not matter, in love we do not lack
That is all that counts
I shall flood you with love any amounts

We have spent 40 years together
Many more years to start
Till death do us part

The universe put us together
Because she saw us fit
Because the universe saw our hearts
Similarly lit

To each other we belong
Two old fogies in an old fashioned marriage
What a fun it is
To be driven in the same carriage

At night when rain pours
Lightning lights
And thunder claps
I cling to him
With his arms around me
That is what I feel my seventh heaven to be.

I tell him to bless me
Many times a day
Why? He asks with a silly smile
Because you are my God, that is
What the Hindus say
I answer with guile.

Now I need care
My husband looks after me
He never complains
Never disrespects
Always says
All I do is out of love
Because our love is pure
As pure as a white dove.
